CALL YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES AND DEMAND THEY KEEP EUROPEAN WHITE SUPREMACIST POLITICIANS FROM ATTENDING TENNESSEE HATE CONFERENCE
BURNS, TN – A call has been made to oppose a White supremacist
conference that is held annually at Montgomery Bell State Park in Burns, TN on Nov. 12-14, 2021. While it has sparked more and more outrage with each outing over the past decade This year will feature a participant of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol as one of its main speakers, as well as politicians from Estonia and Belgium with ties to neo-Nazi groups, one of them facing hate crime charges in his country. In the past, the American Renaissance Conference has brought together those who used the event to network and organize the tragic “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, VA. White supremacist Richard Spencer remarked to the attendees of the 2017 conference, that he expected the rally to be “traumatic for the liberals in Charlottesville.” The conference took place just two weeks before the rally. Since then, the state of Tennessee has done what it can to stem protests against the conference, including considering an ordinance to prevent protests in certain state parks, among them Montgomery Bell. This year its list of speakers in addition to Vincent James Foxx of the Groypers, who participated in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, will include Ruuben Kaalep, a Member of Parliament from Estonia who has had close ties with neo-Nazis in Europe and promotes the denial of the Holocaust and Dries Van Langenhove, a Member of Parliament from Belgium who is also currently being investigated for violating anti-racism laws in that country. Fascists have no place in today’s society, but fascists coming from overseas to network and coordinate with hate groups here should not be allowed. Our elected officials and State Department need to be aware of this conference and these individuals so that they are not allowed to enter the United States and promote their hate while advancing the hate of others. Please contact your local representatives and urge them to be proactive in preventing their visit to the United States. The Antifascist Unity Coalition, a nationwide group of antifascists working to bring attention to the scourge of hate politics, and the Tennessee Anti-Racism Network (TARN), are encouraging all to come out and speak out against this conference in the hopes that they are not allowed to continue to threaten our society.
