A Candidate With a Conscience<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n

Article 4 of the Vermont State Constitution<\/u><\/em><\/font><\/p>\n

“Every person within this state ought to find a certain remedy, by having recourse to the laws, for all injuries or wrongs which one may receive in person, property or character; every person ought to obtain right and justice, freely, and without being obliged to purchase it; completely and without any denial; promptly and without delay; conformability to the laws.”<\/em><\/p>\n

My name will appear on the November ballot as a candidate for State Attorney General.\u00a0 There are many problems that exist in the Office of Vermont Attorney General.\u00a0 Below is a partial list.<\/p>\n

Problem – the influence of money in the court system.\u00a0Buying testimony is a common courtroom tactic.\u00a0\u00a0 Solution – Jurors should always be told when testimony is paid for.\u00a0 Expert Witnesses are often referred to as ‘Liars for Hire’.<\/p>\n

Problem – Lack of respect for truth and justice.\u00a0 Solution – AG staff, and other officers of the court, should not game the system. Sometimes winning is not everything. Truth and justice\u00a0should have a place in the Court system – even an adversarial court system.<\/p>\n

Problem – Lack of respect for citizens, young and old, rich and poor.\u00a0\u00a0An elderly Manchester couple\u00a0is quoted as saying that they were appalled at the way that the State treated them and that no citizen should ever have to go through what they did. The Manchester couple had been “almost killed” \u00a0by a State truck. (See Tateosian v Vermont)\u00a0 \u00a0Many citizens have had similar experiences.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Solution – \u00a0Inform AG staff that\u00a0all citizens are to be treated with respect. Any staff not sharing that view should seek a career change.<\/p>\n

Problem – Cronyism\u00a0\u00a0 Vermont\u00a0has a very influential ‘ol’ boys network’.\u00a0 \u00a0Solution –\u00a0 Voters should understand the undo influence of the Party system and never vote for an Incumbent.\u00a0 That will have the added benefit of instant term limits.<\/p>\n

Where there is no justice, nothing else matters.<\/strong><\/p>\n
