\nprotecting us.<\/p>\n
\nis seen
\nas such a wonderful thing, what about all those in other lands who
\nfought
\nfor their countries? Isn’t God on our side … only? What
\nkind of
\nGod would be on our country, only? our city, only?
\nour white (or brown, or red) people, only? our
\nteam, only?
\nour family, only? Where do these petty nationalisms end? Why do
\nradio
\ncommentators and football coaches fall into them so easily? Yayyy,
\nGO
\nTEAM!<\/p>\n
\nregardless. They fight for the interests of those in power (or
\nhope to
\nbecome one!), the capitalist class, who turn them into murderers
\nand send
\nthem to war on a pocketful of broken promises and lies.<\/p>\n
\norders to kill; thank them when they reject orders to
\nsteal
\nresources and oppress others. Thank those, in Marine Corps
\nCommander
\nSmedley Butler’s words, who refuse to be a hit man for
\nWall
\nStreet.<\/p>\n
\nflea to
\nCanada or Sweden, go to prison, turn the guns around (!) to
\nprotect the
\nreal values of America, the America that should be but
\nnever
\nwas.<\/p>\n
\nDay —
\nthe day the PEACE was signed to end World War 1. They changed it
\nto
\n“Veterans Day”, just as the Department of War was changed to
\nthe Department of Defense — to condition mass-psychology into
\naccepting
\nwar as natural and those who fight in it as what you do to become
\na
\n“man”. To win, in military parlance, “the hearts and minds
\nof the peoplem” at home as well as abroad. To conquer us.<\/p>\n
\ngratuitously
\nthrown onto the rubble heap and left with physical and mental
\nwounds
\nfestering, and who have become homeless, jobless, suicides? Well,
\nyes we
\nmust — not because they’re veterans but because they’re
\nhuman
\nbeings, same as for every human being who is suffering those
\nhorrible
\nfates.<\/p>\n

\nhuman in an era of robots.<\/p>\n
\nthat, our great history of resistance, instead of the mealy
\nmouthed glorifications of the warrior offered this morning on
\nWBAI.<\/p>\n

\nLieutenant
\nto Major-General. And during that period I spent most of my time

\nhigh-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for

\nbankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.<\/p>\n
\nsure
\nof it. Like all members of the military profession, I never had a
\nthought
\nof my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained
\nin
\nsuspended animation while I obeyed the orders of the higher-ups.
\nThis is
\ntypical of everyone in the military service. <\/p>\n

\ninterests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for
\nthe
\nNational City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the
\nraping of
\nhalf a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall
\nStreet.
\nThe record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for
\nthe
\ninternational banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I
\nbrought
\nlight to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in
\n1916. I
\nhelped make Honduras ‘right’ for American fruit companies in 1903.
\nIn
\nChina I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way
\nunmolested.<\/p>\n

\na swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given

\nCapone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket
